Plasterers Sand

What is Plasterers Sand?

Plasterers sand is yellow-coloured sand that serves as the foundation to produce plaster mix. It is specifically graded and washed to remove impurities.

Its consistent texture makes it particularly suitable for plastering use. It is essential for the right plaster consistency. Which means good for adhesion and durability on walls and ceilings.

With a light, creamy yellow colouration, this sand is like a cleaner version of the sand you find at the beach. Its fine grains help to prevent cracking and shrinkage in the plaster as it dries.

To produce an easy-to-apply render mix, plasterers sand is made up of cement and lime (and water).

What is Plastering Sand Used For?

Plasterers sand is commonly used for plastering walls. It’s good for general plastering and mixed rendering.

It is frequently mixed with cement and sometimes lime to make plaster for coating walls and ceilings

Plaster sand can also be used in masonry for laying bricks and blocks. Where its fine particles help create a smooth and binding mortar.

Sometimes plasterers sand is also used for levelling small, low spots in landscaping work. Although its fine texture may not be ideal for large areas or heavy-duty applications.

For the Future

Partnership with ECO Resources

We fill the sand mining void with treated, clean inert waste drawn from our recycling program. Those areas are then capped and rehabilitated by the ECO environmental management plan.
